Share your screen. Viewers join with a code.
Revocast broadcasts your screen as live video. You open a room, get a six-digit code and pass it on. Anyone with the code watches in their browser.
- Join with a six-digit code
- No account needed
- Watching in the browser, no installation
How it works
Open a room
"Share screen" opens a room. You pick what to show: the whole screen, a window or a tab. Add the microphone if you want.
Pass on the code
The room shows a six-digit code and an invitation link to copy. Send either one to everyone who should watch.
Watch
Viewers enter the code on this page or open the link, pick a name and see your screen. Chat and reactions run alongside.
Browser or Windows app
Both lead into the same room. The browser needs nothing, the app can do more.
- In the browser
- Watch without installing anything. Sending currently only works in Chromium browsers such as Chrome and Edge, at up to 60 frames per second.
- In the Windows app
- More frames per second, a freely chosen screen region as the source, and direct mode. The setup needs no administrator rights and keeps the app up to date.
What runs over the server
What takes which path depends on what you send and watch with.
- Joining and the room
- The server issues the code and relays the viewer list, chat and reactions.
- Picture and sound in the browser
- They go through a relay server, for sending and for watching.
- Direct mode of the Windows app
- Viewers connect straight to the sender's computer, encrypted. If that fails, a relay forwards the encrypted packets. For this, everyone needs the Windows app.
Questions
- Do I need an account?
- No. Sending, watching and the download work without signing in.
- Is sound transmitted?
- Yes. The Windows app sends system audio and, if you want, the microphone. The browser has one audio track: the sound of the shared source if the browser provides it, otherwise the microphone.
- Which browser do I need?
- For sending, a Chromium browser such as Chrome or Edge. If your browser cannot send, the page says so and offers the Windows app. If something is missing for watching, the room reports it.
- How long is a code valid?
- For one room. When the sender ends the broadcast, the room ends and the code stops working.
- Why does Windows warn during installation?
- The setup is not signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a warning. The download page explains how to continue.
